Your responsibilities
The Mechanical Engineer within IAI is responsible for advising on new technologies, applications of materials and innovations for our machines by setting up system concepts. Together with a multidisciplinary (software, mechanics and electronics) team, you translate the user requirement specifications (URS) into a concept design and functional specifications. You review requirements and possible solutions with customers and make decisions on the design phase. The Mechanical Engineer adjusts existing designs in accordance with customer requirements and makes an estimate of the expected lead-time and costs. You test and validate the design for functionality in accordance with the specifications and take care of the test setups and protocols. The Mechanical Engineer delivers the material lists for purchasing, drawings and process flowcharts including machine sequence. You prepare presentations, project plans, manuals, procedures and work instructions. The Mechanical Engineers participates in all different phases: the feasibility study, resulting in a Proof of Concept, the full-scale design, resulting in a Proof of Design and the construction, verification and validation of a prototype. You support the Sales department with new technical applications and process knowledge and you discuss suggestions from the Assembly & Test and Service department for improvements at the user level. You report to the Team leader Engineering CPI.

 

What we expect
You have an academic educational degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2-5 years of working experience in a machine building environment. Your creativity and enthusiasm is more important to us than the years of experience! Experience with Pro.File and Inventor would be an advantage. Excellent written and spoken Dutch and English is required and additional languages are desired. Since this position might include occasional (international) travel and fieldwork, you must possess or can acquire a valid passport. You are located in the Netherlands.
